Workplan

Objectives

The work performed within the project is to design, characterize and mature both ADC & DAC to TRL6 and develop all necessary means. In summary, the 6 key objectives of the INTERSTELLAR project are: #1: Review the design and electrically characterize the multichannel 12-bit ADC then mature it up to TRL6. #2: Design, manufacture, validate, electrically characterize the multi-channel DAC and mature it up to TRL6. #3: Validate the good behaviour of the ADC and DAC when submitted to mechanical and thermal stresses representative of space environment. #4: Build and provide to partners demonstration boards to allow validating the devices, then to favour the adoption of the products by the market. #5: Commercially evaluate the ADC and DAC within industrial applications and prepare the exploitation of the results #6: Disseminate and communicate the results widely to maximize the impacts of the “INTERSTELLAR” H2020 project

Work Breakdown Structure

The Interstellar program is organized in seven WPs. WP2 covers the ADC development while the DAC development is done within WP3. Development phases include all steps from the design up to component qualification to reach TRL6 (including radiation test). WP4 is dedicated to thermal and mechanical evaluation of the ADC and DAC. WP5 is intended to develop a Demonstration Board that will be used by partners to evaluate the ADC and DAC in a generic application. This board will also be used to extend the dissemination of the project’s results to the market. WP6 is dedicated to the commercial evaluation of the devices by each end user in their own representative environment. Also, the market is continuously evaluated and the respective exploitation plan will be refined. The results will be disseminated and communicated within WP7.

Work Package Description

WP1 - Project and IP management

The management work package will ensure the management of the project including the contractual, financial and technical management and will enable the exchange of information within the consortium and the European Commission. This WP will also include the management of the intellectual property to strengthen INTERSTELLAR IPR protection. WP1 is led by Teledyne e2v, coordinator of the project.

WP2 - ADC design validation and characterization

WP2 will comprise the full characterization of the device and R&D activities linked to ADC towards its TRL6; the ADC design and foundry was anticipated before the program start to optimize time to market. WP2 is led by Teledyne e2v.

WP3 - DAC complete design and characterization

WP3 will start with a deep prestudy of the DAC, then will go on with design and foundry, exhaustive characterization in the laboratory and all necessary activities to reach the TRL6. In both WP2 and WP3, end-users Airbus and Thalès Alenia Space have a key role, in particular for guiding initial requirements and a significant contribution such as the radiation evaluation of the devices. WP3 is led by Teledyne e2v.

WP4 - Mechanical and thermal evaluation of components

In WP4 the devices will be examined in details regarding mechanical and thermal aspects. Any specific concern prior to actual use of the devices in systems will be anticipated within this work package and solutions sought. WP4 is led by Thalès Alenia Space.

WP5 - Electrical evaluation on demonstration board

WP5 will see a very substantial contribution to overall project’s objectives by the realization of demonstration boards that will help the consortium evaluating the devices in generic application environment. This work will be very complementary to the one performed in WP2 and WP3 by Teledyne e2v on evaluation boards. The boards will be representative of generic application and will be used to propose the devices to the market beyond the consortium, this extending the dissemination of the project’s results. WP5 is led by Fraunhofer IIS.

WP6 - Commercial evaluation on industrial products and exploitation plan

WP6 will be the commercial evaluation of the devices; each end-user will evaluate the ADC and DAC devices in their own representative environment and feedback useful data to the whole consortium. In this frame the market will be continuously evaluated and the exploitation plan will be refined. WP5 is led by Airbus.

WP7 - Dissemination and communication

WP7 will include activities related to dissemination and communication and will be driven by Teledyne e2v with active contribution of partners.
